Cinq Mars is, by far, one of my favorite restaurants in Paris. Its lovely family-style way of serving big-batch dishes feels fresh and homey. Frenchie has long been the talk of the town plus go-to restaurant of the bright and hip —and for good reason.

But its sister restaurant, Frenchie To Go, has a lot to offer too. They even have pulled pork and hot dogs. Pro tip: come early. The space is miniscule and almost always packed. Going through brasserie fare overload? Then Frenchie To Go is your spot. Order the pastrami sandwich or the fish 'n' chips plate. Both are exquisite. Owned by Caroline and Sophie Rostang—the daughters of Michelin-starred chef Michel Rostang—the restaurant is as straightforward as it gets. There are only three prix fixe choices on the dinner menu—in addition to starters, sides, and desserts.
And all three-course formules are excellent. This meat-driven restaurant only serves three prix fixe options for dinner—in addition to extra starters, sides, and dessert. The menu is seasonal. The wine list is reasonable. The waitstaff is personable. And save for a Joaquin Phoenix sighting on my last visit, the clientele is predominantly local.
The menu changes often so we tend to go for the specials, which are always delightful. You can't really go wrong with L'Afflable—but remember, it's not open on Saturdays and Sundays. In Paris, bistros are a euro a dozen. The menu consists of typical brasserie fare: classic selections served in hearty portions. But don't forget to order some wine to wash it all down. During my last visit, the calzone with hay was quite a treat. Think home-cooked meals presented in exquisite French fashion. But prepare to spend more than you would elsewhere: This is fine dining through and through—and best reserved for special occasions, celebrations, and romantic date nights.
